Oktobellfest 2022
The Granite State Ringers attended the second annual Oktobellfest Festival, hosted by the New England Ringers.
We had the pleasure of working again with David Harris, director of The Raleigh Ringers, who brought out the best from each ringer for our concert, which included "Reverberations," "A Cohan Celebration," Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," "America, The Beautiful," and our encore ABBA's "Dancing Queen." We also performed the world premier of "Beer Barrel Polka," arranged by Hart Morris specifically for this festival. Due to the growth in participation of this festival, the location was moved from "The Barn" in Pawtucket, RI, to the Armory in Westerly, RI.
For GSR, Oktobellfest is a great reminder of why we do what we do. The joy of practicing and performing great music with our peers is something very special. It's a chance to reconnect with our friends and to meet new ringers who enjoy our art as much as we do. It also allows us as an ensemble to strengthen our bonds of family as we introduce our new members to the excitement of performance and to the larger handbell community.
The end of Oktobellfest also brought us a bittersweet moment. As Mya Dundzilla's life travels are taking her in a new direction, she rang her last performance with Granite State Ringers. We wish Mya the best and hope she will always remember us fondly.
